Admitting being angry, or having anger issues, is pretty tough. I think many deny until significant negative outcomes in their life occur, or they are forced to by law, workplace or by a loved one. Being self-reflective can prevent a string of unfortunate events from occurring. Take this self-assessment to see how you measure up!

1. I’ve had trouble on the job because of my temper.

20. When I get angry, frustrated or hurt, I comfort myself by eating or using alcohol or other drugs.
21. When someone hurts me, I want to get even.
22. I’ve gotten so angry at times that I’ve become physically violent, hitting other people or breaking things.
23. I sometimes lie awake at night thinking about the things that upset me during the day.
24. People I’ve trusted have often let me down, leaving me feeling angry or betrayed.
25. I’m an angry person. My temper has already caused lots of problems, and I need help changing it.

If you answered "TRUE" to 10 or more of these questions, you most likely have moderate-to-severe anger problems. If you answered "TRUE" to 6-9 questions, you are most likely at risk for having anger issues. If you answered "TRUE" to 5 or less questions, you are about average in your anger. Regardless of your score, anger management skills can be helpful.
